How much it costs to visit La Guajira with a tour depends on the tour and on how many people travel: in 2026, from COP 409,500 per person (Cabo de la Vela 2 days, groups of 6 or more) to COP 3,249,750 per person (Punta Gallinas 4 days, one person traveling alone). The three tours are private and leave Riohacha at 8:30 a.m. If you see a different price in another source, the current price is the one in this table.

Why the price goes down with the group
The tours are private, with a per-person price based on the number of travelers in the booking, from 1 to 6 or more. The “from” price applies to groups of 6 or more. With more travelers, the route cost is shared among more people: on the Cabo de la Vela 2-day tour, one person traveling alone pays COP 1,396,500, while in a group of 6 or more each person pays COP 409,500.
The tours are for travelers over 6 years old. There is no child rate: each traveler pays the per-person rate for their group.
What the price includes
The price of each tour includes:
- Transport: 4×4 vehicle with air conditioning throughout the route, departing from Riohacha.
- Meals: on the 2-day tour, 1 breakfast, 2 lunches and 1 dinner; on the 3-day tour, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners. On both tours, breakfast on day 1 is not included if you leave from Riohacha. Your advisor will detail the meals for the 4-day tour when you book.
- Lodging: chinchorro hammock in Wayuu rancherías, 1 night on the 2-day tour, 2 on the 3-day tour and 3 on the 4-day tour.
- Guide: local Spanish-speaking driver-guides.
- Insurance: medical assistance insurance during the route.
The itinerary stops are also included in the price: the Manaure salt flats, Uribia, Cabo de la Vela and, on the 3- and 4-day tours, Punta Gallinas, the Taroa dunes and the Punta Gallinas lighthouse.
What the tours do not include
The three tours leave out the same items:
- Domestic or international flights.
- Tips.
- Beer and alcoholic drinks.
- Breakfast on day 1 if you leave from Riohacha.
- Additional meals or higher-cost dishes, such as lobster.
- A bed instead of the chinchorro hammock: COP 30,000 per person per night, subject to availability.
- A translator: driver-guides speak Spanish.
- Activities that are not in the itinerary, such as sandboarding on the Taroa dunes.
- Medical expenses not covered by the medical assistance insurance.
- Personal items and laundry.
If something does not appear in either list, ask about it on WhatsApp before booking.
Extra costs: flights, Riohacha, tips and add-ons
Getting to Riohacha. Travel from your city to Riohacha is on your own. Since the tour leaves in the morning, the practical option is to arrive the day before.
The night in Riohacha. The tours only include the nights in rancherías. If you sleep in Riohacha before or after the tour, you pay for that lodging separately.
Extras and tips during the tour. Along the way, you pay separately for a bed if you ask for one, sandboarding on the Taroa dunes (subject to availability), tips, alcoholic drinks, additional dishes and crafts.
Cash. There are no ATMs or digital payments on the Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas route: those extras are paid in cash. Also bring the tour balance if you plan to pay it in cash.
How much it costs to visit La Guajira with a tour or on your own
Without a tour, a trip to La Guajira can be arranged with 4×4 transport: a private 4×4 between Riohacha, Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas for travelers who do not want a tour package. It is quoted on WhatsApp or through the form.

Deposit, payment and cancellation
Deposit. You book with 7% of the total. The balance is paid before or at the start of the tour, in cash or with a payment link. You can also pay the full amount when booking.
Confirmation. The booking is “pending confirmation” when you pay the deposit, and an advisor confirms it within a maximum of 12 hours.
Cancellation. No penalty if you cancel or change up to 5:00 p.m. (Colombia time) on the business day before departure; after that, there is a 20% penalty of the total. No refund once the tour has started.
Validity. The prices on this page are valid until December 31, 2026. For trips from January 2027 onward, ask for the current rate on WhatsApp.
